MD State Police Investigate Prince George’s County Multi Vehicle Fatal Crash

State Police continue to investigate a fatal crash this morning in Prince George’s County that claimed the life of a woman from Prince George’s County.

The victim is identified as Angela Jefferson, 53, of the 4000 block of 91st Avenue in Springdale, Maryland. She was pronounced deceased at the hospital. She was the sole occupant in the vehicle.  Jefferson was driving a burgundy GMC.

The driver of a blue Chevy Silverado is identified as Juan Sanchez, 34, of the unit block of Fairview Street in Laurel, Maryland. Upon further investigation, troopers on the scene discovered Sanchez was driving without a driver’s license and had an outstanding arrest. Sanchez was transported by troopers to Prince George’s Hospital Center. Charges are pending and a security detail has been assigned to Sanchez.

The preliminary investigation indicates that shortly before 9:00 a.m. this morning, Sanchez was in his blue Chevy Silverado, traveling southbound on Largo Road at Lottsford Road. Jefferson was in her burgundy GMC, traveling in an unknown direction on Lottsford Road. For unknown reasons at this time, their vehicles collided with each other and subsequently struck seven other vehicles. The drivers and passengers of the other vehicles were transported by ambulance.

Maryland State Police from the Forestville Barrack responded to the scene. Police officers from the Prince George’s County Police Department responded to assist, along with personnel from Prince George’s County Fire Department. State Highway Administration assisted with the road closures and detours while investigators worked at the scene.
